B&B
Cirelli is located in Scalea, a popular town situated on the picturesque
Tyrrenic coast in the province of Cosenza.
Scalea
boasts a rich history. The Centro Storico, the historic centre of the town, is
situated on a hill that spirals upwards to allow for breathtaking views from its
hillside piazzas.
The
Greeks and Romans colonized this area and for this reason there are many
monuments such as the “Palazzo Spinelli”, home of the Prince Spinelli. Another
important local monument is the “Torre Della Scalicella” or “Torre Di Giuda”.
This was built to defend Scalea from invading enemy attack. What is
particularly fascinating is the cylindrical shape of the building. Inside the
tower there is an archaeological museum which houses rare artifacts that have
been found in the area.
The
natural environment in Scalea and the surrounding areas is stunning and
unspoiled. The sea is crystal clear and is home to a rich and diverse sea
life. Turn your back to the sea and you are presented by the dramatic panorama
of the mountains. Between “mare e montagna” vegetation abounds – palm, cypress,
fig and lemon trees, cacti and the cedro.

But
Scalea is also a modern town, with many bars, hotels, shops, restaurants and
pizzerias. Of course, there are the local traditional festas to enjoy, such as
the Festa of Madonna del Carmine on the 15-16 July, and the Festa of the Madonna
del Lauro on the 7-8 September
For
the more adventurous, there is rafting, canoeing, trekking, jeep adventures,
diving, or walking through the fantastic Pollino National
Park.
We
hope that you come to visit and enjoy Scalea and the many things for many
different tastes that it has to offer!
